The new short story...
Outage
Available only in Kindle format.
This is a bit of a departure for John. The idea came to him whilst he and his wife were sitting through a power cut (outage), albeit one that was planned by the electricity infrastructure company in Greece [ΔΕΔΔΗΕ]. The power supply where they live is pretty reliable, more so than it was when they'd lived for fourteen years on the island of Rhodes. If there is maintenance required, the website for ΔΕΔΔΗΕ announces any cuts that may be required in advance. The system works well.
While they were sipping their coffees in the sunshine (brewed with water heated on their gas-fuelled hob), John got to thinking what would happen to the world if, for some inexplicable reason, all electrical power around the world were to stop working. How soon would the order in society break down? What would happen to all the governments, the businesses, telecommunications (the list is endless) if there were simply no more power?
John's imagination soon ran away with him, and the result is this new 12.5K word story. it's dark, it's pessimistic, but, just imagine...

"Oh my goodness, what a terrifying prospect. It certainly makes you think about how much we take for granted. The first few hours and days are about all I could imagine, but going way beyond into weeks and months it really is a terrifying thought."
