Tzatziki For You to Say
Now into volume three of the "Ramblings From Rhodes" series, Tzatziki deals much more with life on the island of Rhodes than volumes one and two, "Feta Compli!" and "Moussaka to My Ears".
The Manuels have now lived on Rhodes for a number of years and have made friends and acquaintances with locals and ex-pats living nearby. Tzatziki For You to Say serves up a feast of amusing anecdotes, most in stand-alone chapters much as was the case with the first two volumes in the series.
Here are some of the images from the book, with notes by the author. These images appear in black and white in the paperback version, so they're rendered here in full colour. Clicking on any of these will open it in a larger window:
The above photo appears on the inside title page of the book. It was taken during a winter stay we had on Symi a few years back, somewhere near the lower end of the Kali Strata.

"It did make me laugh out loud at various times and was set at just the right tone. A good holiday read."
"I found this collection of writings about life in Greece completely entertaining and full of useful and interesting information..."
"I have lived my dreams and escaped to a Greek island through the Manuels! Well written and at times, very thought provoking."
"This author is a breath of fresh air. His work in uplifting and entertaining. I downloaded several of his books to read on holiday but have already read them. I'll just have to hope that he writes some more soon. An absolute gem. My husband got sick of me laughing whilst reading this!"
My better half, after she'd thanked "Mad" Mihali at "Hari's Bar" for getting rid of a Symi Spider one evening. It appears at the end of Chapter 2, "Livestock."
This rather nice view of Lindos from a rooftop taverna is one of the photos supplied by Nigel Sparks from Somerset, England. I used it at the end of chapter 8, "Plants, Pomegranates & Tantrums."
If you look carefully, at the other end of the fledgling vegetable patch is Hartley the Hare (circled), beating a fast retreat after I'd zapped him with the hosepipe. The black and white version appears at the end of chapter 4, called rather unsurprisingly - "Hares and Hosepipes!"
1977 on Kalamos beach, north of Athens, where my wife's family have a summer villa. Left to right are: Dave (my step-father-in-law), Yvonne-Maria, [2nd]-Cousin Effie, Lela (my mother-in-law) and cousin Christina, Effie's mum. The island of Evia is in the background.
The pic appears at the end of chapter 14, "The Whining."
This photo (left) was taken in Asklipio village itself and also appears at the end of Chapter 19. It's also the photo used on the cover of the novel "Eve of Deconstruction."
A view from the top of the Kastro at Asklipio. It looks down the coast towards the village of Gennadi. This photo appears at the end of Chapter 19, "The Things You Have to Do For a Free Coffee."
A superb shot of a Rhodean fisherman, taken by Nigel Sparks (who provided me with the front cover photo for "Tzatziki FYTS" too).
It appears at the end of Chapter 20, "Kosta's Dilemma."
The Bay of Pandeli on Leros, where I "dived for jellies" in Chapter 25. This was taken in 1996 and is a scanned print.
This is a Symi doorway which rather took my fancy when we stayed there for a vacation in 1995. It is a scanned print and graces the page at the end of chapter 27.
