The eighth novel:

No Sign

Kindle & Paperback both available thru on-line bookstores.

When she allows her estranged birth-father back into her life, 22 year-old Amanda thinks it could only lead to better prospects, and maybe a slightly better bank balance. Yet she is unprepared for just what an effect he is going to have on her life and that of her friends and family.

This story shows how the perpetrators of crimes can often become such simply by allowing themselves to take one step too many down a dangerous path. As the story unfolds, the consequences eventually lead both the perpetrator and the victim to the point of wondering just which of them has the most power, which of them is the dominant participant in the perilous game into which they both become immersed.

Amanda wonders if she'll ever see a way out of her nightmare, and her father Philip Trent if he'll have any chance at all of escaping a very long prison sentence.

That's always assuming, of course, that the situation doesn't remain unresolved, in which case the stakes are impossibly high, and the future extremely uncertain, for Amanda.

Amazon UK reviews:

★★★★★

"Loved it. Good that it refreshed your memory of what happened in previous book... A couple of things happened that you didn't expect... Keeps you hooked and wondering what happens next. ...Characters all alive with their own stories and like all John's books (and I know because I've read em all) it all fits in and comes together beautifully."

★★★★★

"Whilst this book is a sequel to The Crete Connection it's a great read as a stand alone book. The book begins by giving the reader the background to the characters and a condensed reminder of what happened in The Greek connection story, which I found helpful ...As usual the authors style of writing draws you in and keeps you interested in the story line. A great read with an unusual twist at the end."

"No Sign" is the first of my books not to contain, either at the front or the back, a list of  'thank yous' mentioning those whose help had been invaluable in the writing of the book. There really was only one person whose help was truly essential when writing "No Sign,' and I'd be remiss not to mention him somewhere, and so I'm doing it here.

Martin Heap is a retired detective from the north of England whom I met while living on Rhodes. He was a regular reader of my Ramblings From Rhodes blog and, while spending a summer staying near to where we lived, even worked with me once or twice on the excursions I did as a part-time job there. Since the Police are involved in the story, I needed to be sure that I got the facts at least broadly correct about how they would handle investigations like the one in the book. It was Martin to whom I turned on several occasions and he was always quick to advise me, and for that I'm deeply grateful to him.

In fact, I'm now proud to call he and his wife Helen lasting friends of my wife and I.
